Monique Teggelove (1966) was born and raised in The Netherlands. After having graduated as a jeweller and goldsmith, she changed professions, and became a professional secretary.

In 2005 she sold her house, quit her job, stocked a few belongings, and started traveling the world. She set foot on all continents and travelled to and lived in 50+ countries.

In 2010 she settled in Mali (West Africa), where she founded Papillon Reizen. Together with her amazing local team, she organized trips through six West African destinations for clients coming from all corners of the world.

During the 2020 global crisis when travel came to a standstill, time for writing, reading and reflection arose, and Monique grabbed the chance to once again change her life.

Languages and grammar were not particularly Monique’s most-loved classes at school. Writing on the other hand is something she has always loved doing. She has been a contributor and editor for newsletters and several staff magazines. Working with some of the most critical experts, who didn’t hesitate to challenge her and push her beyond her limits, her writing skills were polished.

After having walked the Camino Francès in 2007, she felt the need to integrate all the experiences, which are interwoven with so many aspects of her life. It resulted in the Dutch book Mijn Camino. This was followed by the English version My Camino and by Itchy Feet, in which she shares about her experiences on hikes and treks around the world.

Monique is currently working on a book with stories about some of the amazing experiences, she had on travels around the world.

Monique is featured in Bedrijf van een Wereldwijf - Company of a World Woman - and has contributed to the book Niet Alledaagse Bestemmingen.

Monique is available as a speaker and for book signings.
